Associates the Medical & Police Services Team, will be
bringing cutting edge training to our departments and the surrounding
communities. This course is designed around Tactical EMS on the
Mass Transit systems. (Details to follow)

Our
Tactical Team is once again Teaming with
STS
Consulting to provide members of our departments (Police
and Fire) and the surrounding communities the best in EMS training.
Oxford Medical and Police Services will be hosting an Officer Down
Rescue Course. (Visit

January
17th, 2006
Team
receives our Ballistic Blank and ability to mobile dispatch team
members. One of the final steps towards fully functional.

18th, 2005
MaPS Team
hosts "When Violence Erupts, Street Smarts for Emergency Responders"
course offered by STS Consulting. This course was also attended by
the Oxford Fire-EMS Department and members of the Police department.

MaPS Team
assists Fire-EMS Department with Annual Easter Flower Sale Fund Raiser.
January
1st, 2005
Proposed Stand up date, Team has set this as a target date to be
operational.

2004
The Team has filed for approx 5 Equipment Grants from the National
Tactical Officers Association. The Grants close as of 12-02-04.
November
16th,
2004
Our team was called before the Town Board of Selectman to give them a
briefing on what the Medical and Police Services Team was all about,
this presentation went very well. This presentation was also
followed up by an article in the Local Section of the Telegram and
Gazette Newspaper.
October
6th, 2004
Team presentation for the The Police and Fire Department Supervisors to
bring them up to speed with the progress of the Team.
The Town Manager Dennis Powers and Selectman John Saad were also in
attendance.
August 2004
A
meeting sometime late July or early August with the two Chiefs produced
an order for Tactical Gear (10 sets), which arrived in Mid August.
Still NO BALLISTIC PROTECTION though.
During the first weekend in August
STS Consulting along with
McKnight Associates were contracted to supply a three (3) day
Tactical EMS Providers Course. This course was a huge
success and once again showed the dedication that these men and women
have to each other, the Police / Fire Department and the Town as a
whole.

July
2004
The
last two Saturday's in July members of the Oxford Fire department and
the M.a.P.S. Team all participated in a Pre-Hospital Trauma Life
Support Course. After the completion of this course it was
truly obvious the dedication and determination the team members had to
the overall success of the Team.
April
- June 2004
The team
has undergone a few structural changes, two individuals were not able or
willing to meet the commitment required and were replaced with different
individuals.
Members of the team organize a few fund raisers to help defer some of
the cost to equipment for the team. With monies raised the team is
able to purchase a vital part of our training equipment.

2004
Team
of Ten original hand selected members start to train, once a month at
first and then it progressed to every other week and now it is the first
three Wednesdays every month from 1800 hrs to approx 2200 hrs. (Still
voluntary and without pay)

February 2004
Near the end of
February the group of ten individuals, now working more a team presented
to both chiefs a Proposal for a set of Standard Operating Guidelines.
After many meetings and negotiations, common ground was found and a
basic set of SOG's were finalized.
The work continues,
fine tuning this document and the OK was given by the Chiefs to start
training as a team Tactically.
January 2004
Five members from each
department, all of whom were hand selected by the founding members and
approved by both Chiefs, for very specific and articulable reasons.
Started volunteering their time after hours and on weekends to organize
and produce a preliminary set of Operating Guidelines for presentation
to the Chiefs.
October
2003
Both Chiefs (Police and Fire)
agree to send individuals from each department to an "Officer Down
Rescue Course", offered by eric Stratton of
STS Consulting. These individuals were selected by the Chiefs
to evaluate the usefulness of such a program within our town.
Immediately after
returning from the course these individuals laid out a proposal for both
chiefs which would include recommendations on activation protocols,
training requirements, all the way to recommendations on personnel to
augment into the team.
June - July 2003
Conversation continued
amongst Fire Department personnel re: a Tactical Team primarily for
officer safety concerns. A few intrigual parties secured a
"Officer Down Rescue Course"
February - March
2003
Conversation originated from PD re: a Tactical Team within the Oxford
Police Department, with medical support from Oxford EMS.
